Industries list

  • Aerospace

At STM, we specialize in providing advanced materials and solutions for critical aerospace applications. Conductive materials are a cornerstone of EMI/RF management, component shielding, lightning strike/electrostatic discharge protection, and additional aerospace applications, however, traditional conductive materials can be bulky, heavy and rigid. STM materials are thin, lightweight, flexible and are capable of surviving in harsh environments. These characteristics can provide distinct advantages in aerospace applications where every ounce matters.

     • Composite integration
     • EMI gaskets
     • EMI/RF signal management
     • Component shielding
     • Lightning strike protection
     • Electrostatic discharge protection
  • Architectural Shielding

STM’s conductive materials are an excellent choice for architectural shielding in commercial and government facilities. Our lightweight, flexible metalized textiles are exceptionally breathable, making STM materials ideal for achieving high levels of shielding performance without introducing vapor barriers- which can cause unintended issues with moisture. Our materials can be used for a variety of directional or complete EMI/RF shielding applications which may include SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities) protection, general architectural shielding, window coverings, portable enclosures and Wi-Fi signal isolation.

  • Defense

At STM, we specialize in providing advanced materials and solutions for mission-critical defense applications. The survivability of U.S. and Allied service personnel and equipment are a top priority for our team. Conductive materials are a cornerstone of EMI/RF management, however, typical conductive materials can be bulky, heavy and rigid, and are not suitable for meeting critical defense applications.

STM materials are thin, lightweight, flexible and are capable of surviving in harsh environments. These characteristics can provide distinct advantages to United States and Allied countries, whether their mission is conducted in a forward deployed area or at long range – in air, land, sea and space applications. Our materials can be used for a variety of defense applications which may include EMI/RF signal management, portable or fixed shielded enclosures and EMI shielded cases.

  • Medical

STM’s conductive materials can provide unique solutions for a wide range of needs in the medical industry from patient care to medical devices to equipment and infrastructure applications. STM manufactures a variety of knit, woven and non-woven materials that are thin, lightweight, flexible and are capable of providing consistent electrical resistivity that may be required for certain medical applications. Our silver-coated materials may be suitable for direct skin contact, while our nickel/silver-coated materials may be suitable for equipment and infrastructure shielding.

Medical applications for STM materials may include pressure mapping sensors, wearable bio-sensors, cardiac defibrillation devices and radiology and MRI shielding.

  • Security

STM’s conductive materials are a unique solution to the security concerns associated with electronic devices. The interception of sensitive electronic signals may allow an outside threat to gain access to sensitive data and location information. Our metalized textile materials are thin, lightweight, flexible and are capable of providing high levels of signal attenuation. Through our proprietary metalizing process, we are able to manufacture highly conductive textiles while maintaining the original characteristics of the un-metalized fabric. This makes STM materials ideal for integration into a variety of protective solutions.

Security applications for STM materials may include shielded bags and pouches, shielded case liners, smart garments, pop-up tents and shelters.

  • Telecommunications

STM’s specializes in the design, development and production of a wide range of electrically conductive and reflective metalized fabrics used in products that provide protection of people and equipment from Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and Static Discharge. Our materials can be used to provide protection for telecom personnel working on equipment, as well as shielding for sensitive equipment and areas where EMI/RF shielding may be required. Our metalized textile materials are thin, lightweight, flexible and are capable of providing high levels of signal attenuation. STM materials are as light as 0.7/yd², which makes them an ideal choice for integration into a variety of temporary or permanent solutions.
